Abstract:
(Soil effects on community structure and distribution of regenerating species in riparian forests of the Rio Claro Basin, Jataí, GO). The study was carried out in two remnants of riparian forest in the Rio Claro Basin, southwest of Goiás, and aimed to verify the variations of the structure and distribution of regenerating species and possible correlations between the edaphic variables between two established treatments: riverbank and Forest interior. All regenerating individuals with DBH (diameter at breast height) <5 cm and height greater than 1m were sampled in 40 plots of 5 × 5 m2 (a total of 0.01 ha). Soil chemical and textural properties were analyzed for each plot (0-20 cm deep). Comparisons between the two treatments showed differences for diversity index, density of regenerating individuals and distribution by diameter classes. A canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) indicated that species abundance varied as a function of the gradient of chemical and textural properties of riverbank and interior forest soils. Some species had abundance associated with a given treatment and others produced significant correlations with Al, P, MO, base saturation, sand and clay proportions, suggesting that chemical and textural properties of soils influence the distribution of these species.
