Abstract:
The Mineiros city, located in Goiás southwest region, originated in the late nineteenth century, due to the search for new areas for expansion of extensive livestock. The intensity of the flow of people and capital, especially since the 1970s, with the favorable conditions of infrastructure and transport circulation, part of the State interventions for agricultural modernization and economic development in the region, resulted in the expansion of its urban space. In the course of the current decade, 2010, there is a relative development of the built space and the conditions of the inhabitants, but it has been accompanied by structural inequalities. Such context triggered the need for analysis of how the local urban space has been configured. The study unfolds through the social, demographic and economic aspects, in the period between 1970, a remarkable decade of actions and public policies for the occupation of the state of Goiás and when there is the largest amount of urban population, until the year 2015. The reflection on the socio-spatial arrangement of Mineiros, by relating the data analysis with the theoretical study adopted in the research, allowed to answer the hypothesis that its configuration has been reproduced in the capitalist mold, in which there are imbalances in the infrastructure and, consequently, the differentiation of spaces and the rights of residents.
