Abstract:
This paper analyzes Iporá city, located in the Western Region of the Goiás State of. Their origin is in the Arrail de Pilões in 1833, receiving the name of Iporá in 1948 with the transfer of the village to the margins of the Anteater Stream. We sought to characterize this urban space, checking the elements that contributed and still contribute to their current socio organization. In this sense, authors such as Santos (1996), Correa (2000), Borges (2001) and Gomis (1998), who discuss the process of urbanization in different scales, and the study of demographic, economic and social data contributed consistently to understanding of the study aim. The construction of the urban fabric began a planned way through the urban core of the project, implemented in a relatively flat area, featuring the city with wide streets and blocks, favoring residential building, commercial and mobility. The urban population in just three decades (1970, 1980, 1990) jumped from 9,766 inhabitants to 25,540 inhabitants, at this period, the city received many state and federal investments, such as the paving of GO-060, which connects the Iporá Goiânia, the supply of properties with the electrical energy produced by the plant Cachoeira Dourada, building affordable housing, among others. These benefits and fast population growth have triggered the emergence of new subdivisions, besides those previously planned. As a result what is observed is the disparity in the distribution of public services and infrastructure in the suburbs, being concentrated primarily in the central area of the city. At the end of the survey is recorded that the city currently has segregated areas that reflect the lack of continuity of the initial urban planning.
